Hujan rintik – rintik yang mengguyur kota Denpasar Minggu (30/3), memangsa korban. Kakak beradik tewas mengenaskan di simpang Jalan Nakula – Imam Bonjol, setelah sepeda motornya ditabrak mobil tak dikenal. Tragisnya, kakak adik tinggal di Jalan Bay Pass Ngurah Rai 99X Denpasar, terseret sepanjang 25 meter.

Kondisi Encung Juhari (32) dan Ujang Encung (21), sangat mengenaskan. Sekujur tubuhnya luka lecet.

Jasad kakak beradik itu, kemarin, sekitar pukul 10.00 Wita, sudah dibawa keluarga ke rumah duka, Bandung Jawa Barat.

Peristiwa tabrakan terjadi sekitar pukul 06.45 Wia. Kakak beradik itu mengendarai sepeda motor DK 4961 QM, melaju dengan kecepatan sedang, datang dari arah selatan ke utara.

Sedangkan mobil tak dikenal datang dari utara ke selatan.

Subuh hari itu, bumi Denpasar dibasahi hujan rintik-rintik, sehingga mengakibatkan jalanan serba licin.

Saksi mata dilokasi menerangkan, ada sebuah mobil tak dikenal, datang dari utara selatan menuju Jalan simpang Nakula – Imam Bonjol.

Namun karena hujan dan kondisi persimpangan gelap, diduga mobil itu tidak menyadari menabrak motor korban.

“Saksi dilokasi menerangkan, korban ditabrak mobil,” ucap Kasatlantas Poltabes Kompol Singgamata Sik didampingi Kanitlaka AKP Bima Aria Viyasa Sik.

Tanpa sadar, mobil yang kini masih dikejar polisi itu, menyeret korban sejauh 25 meter. Akibatnya, kakak beradik itu tewas ditempat, dalam kondisi yang mengerikan. Sekujur tubuhnya lecet dan mengalami luka cedera kepala berat

Tanggal 28 maret 2008 yang lalu para pengurus STDK melakukan acara “medelokan” ke banjar petingan guna memberikan selamat pada salah seorang anggota st dharma kerthi yang telah menempuh hidup baru sehari sebelumnya.

Kapolda Bali Irjen Pol Paulus Purwoko menginstruksikan semua jajarannya untuk bersikap netral dalam pilkada nanti, karena kedua calon Gubernur Bali itu sama-sama Perwira Tinggi dari Polda Bali yaitu Komjen Pol Drs. Made Mangku Pastika dan Brigjend Pol. Drs. Nyoman Gde Suweta. Sosialisasi itu berdasarkan instruksi awal Kapolri Nomor 11 bulan Januari 2007 tentang keberadaan Polri untuk tidak berpolitik dan berdasarkan surat Kapolda Bali No 1421 Bulan Agustus 2007 dan Nomor 92 Bulan Maret 2008, tentang kemandirian Polri untuk tidak berpolitik.

Jika ada anggota kepolisian yang ketahuan memilih atau memihak Jendral tersebut maka Kapolda tidak segan mengambil tindakan tegas terhadap anggotanya. Sangsi yang dikenakan sesuai kode etik/peraturan disiplin, perundang-undangan yang berlaku seperti penundaan pangkat kata Irjen Pol Paulus Purwoko. Tetapi bagi keluarga Polisi yang lain diberikan kebebasan dalam memilih dalam Pilkada sesuai dengan hati nuraninya tanpa melihat balas budi yang terhadap kedua calon Gubernur tersebut.
Statemen Kapolda Bali perlu kita dukung demi kondusifnya situasi pillkada dan menunjukkan keprofesionalan polisi sebagai alat negara yang salah satu tugasnya adalah mengamankan Pilkada Bali pada bulan Juli mendatang.

ASEAN Foundation Scholarships for Nationals of ASEAN Member
Countries

The ASEAN Foundation (AF) and the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT)
have entered into another agreement to develop high quality human
resources within ASEAN member countries through the offering of the
AF-AIT Scholarships.

The ASEAN Foundation, an initiative of the Leaders of the Association
of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), was established on 15 December
1997 to help bring about shared prosperity and a sustainable future
for the peoples of all ASEAN countries that now include Brunei
Darussalam, Cambodia , Indonesia , Laos , Malaysia , Myanmar , the
Philippines , Singapore , Thailand and Viet Nam . It has been mandated
to promote greater awareness of ASEAN and greater interaction among
its peoples and their increased participation in ASEAN activities as
well as to undertake development cooperation activities that enhance
mutual assistance, address equitable economic development and reduce
poverty. This scholarship programme is part of the ASEAN Foundation
Scholarships for Postgraduate Studies and funded through the
Japan-ASEAN Solidarity Fund.

The Asian Institute of Technology, on the other hand, is an
international post graduate institute founded in 1959, and is Asia’s
pioneer institution established to help meet the region’s growing
needs for advanced learning in engineering, science, technology and
management, research and capacity building. AIT’s mission is to
develop highly qualified and committed professionals who will play a
leading role in the sustainable development of the region and its
integration into the global economy. AIT is based in Thailand and has
affiliated centers in other parts of the world.
Ten (10) full scholarships are available for ASEAN nationals who wish
to pursue masters degree in AIT. The scholarship award will cover
tuition and other academic fees, and living allowances for a 2-year
programme.

–Four (4) scholarship slots will be awarded under the project
“Capacity building for Gender, Poverty and Mobility Analysis of Road
Transportation Development in GMS Region”. The remaining six (6)
scholarships will be allocated for the various fields of study
identified by ASEAN Foundation as indicated below.–

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

To qualify, applicants must:

* Be a bonafide ASEAN national;
* Hold a bachelors degree (normally from a four-year program) or
its equivalent in an appropriate field;
* Have above average undergraduate grades (minimum CGPA of 2.75); and,
* Satisfy other requirements as specified by the school you apply to.
* AIT is an international institute with English as the sole
language of instruction. Admission to AIT requires proof of English
language proficiency which may be satisfied in any of the following:
Submission of an official test score from any of the following
standardized English exams: TOEFL, IELTS, CU-TEP ( Thailand ), ARC
(Lao PDR).
* Agree to return and/or serve for at least 2 years in any ASEAN
countries after completion of their studies.

Information Security

Applications are invited for a PhD Scholarship from students interested in pursuing a PhD in Computer Science on a topic in Information Security. The PhD work can be on cryptography, network security or critical infrastructures etc

We are seeking a talented graduate with at least an upper second class honours degree (first class honours preferred), or equivalent, in computer science, information security or similar. Students with a strong background in mathematics (in particular algebra, combinatorics, discrete mathematics and number theory) and/or algorithms are encouraged to apply.

University College London (UCL) is a leading UK research university. It is regularly ranked in the top five universities in the UK. The Department of Computer Science at UCL is one of the largest Computer Science departments in the UK, and UCL’s Adastral Park Postgraduate Campus has been established by UCL as an independent research and postgraduate teaching institute at Adastral Park, Ipswich.

The studentship is for three years and covers payment of tuition fees at either the UK/EU or overseas rate plus an annual stipend of £14,622.
